The Garrett County Gran Fondo has a ride for everyone from the recreational cyclist to seasoned professionals with five supported ride options. With the exception of the “Garrett’s Greatest 25”, all Garrett County Gran Fondo routes are extremely challenging, very steep climbing affairs and riders should plan accordingly. Some hills peak out at over 20% pitch and have extended stretches well into the teens. It is highly recommended that you gear your bike appropriately for the severe climbing.
All proceeds from the Garrett County Gran Fondo go to Garrett Trails Nonprofit Organization located in Garrett County, Maryland to benefit to trails throughout the area.

Aquatic Adventures - Join the Naturalist in the Discovery Room of the Center for this exciting adventure! We will head to the docks to use aqua scopes and dip nets to catch critters and fish that call Deep Creek home.
Brant Mine Hike - Take a guided hike with the naturalist to the historic Brant Mine. The hike begins in the center in our newly-designed mine room. Once at the mine site you will see the remnants of a coal mine that was operated in the 1920’s. Plus, you never know what wildlife we will see on the way. Approx. 2 hours. Moderate Hike.

Herp Walk at the Discovery Center - Herp Walk Join the Naturalist to learn how to safely identify native reptiles and amphibians on a walk through park. Approx 1 hour.
Campfire Program- Snakes of Maryland- Join us at the Amphitheater for a presentation on Maryland’s Snakes and have an opportunity to meet our own animal ambassadors from the Discovery Center. Marshmallows provided. In the event of rain, the program will be held in the Discovery Room of the Discovery Center
19th Annual Secret Country Gardens Tour - The Mountain Laurel Garden Club will sponsor its 19th Annual Secret Country Gardens Tour, Saturday, June 22, 2019, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., rain or shine, no pets. The tour includes four residential gardens (two in McHenry and two on the shores of Deep Creek Lake) plus activities related to an historic farm theme at Sang Run State Park.

Hungry Critters at the Discovery Center - Meet us inside the Discovery Center as we feed the critters! You will be given a chance to touch a live reptile or amphibian!
